A first glance at Le Verre Volé may make this trendy address near Canal Saint-Martin seem like a regular wine shop with a few scattered tables, but trendy Parisians know this is one of the best wine bars in the city. If U don't believe it, try and show up without a reservation and you'll quickly discover the popularity of this little venue.
While there brand - Le Verre Volé - boasts in another two Parisian locations, as well as one in Tokyo, this is the only one that doesn't merely sell wine and sandwiches, offers proper dining with delectable dishes in a low-key atmosphere that is quite becoming to the bobo Parisian.
Do as the locals do and order a bottle of the natural or unfiltered wines hand-selected from producers across France, a far cry from most wine bars. If U can't decide don't be intimidated by the list, ask one of the knowledgeable staff they are more than willing to share their opinion and give U advice.
As for the food the rich and tasty boudin noir with buttery homemade mashed potatoes or the small charcuterie plates are always delicious and on the menu, regardless of the season. The majority of the menu changes daily, but if you do spot the monkfish beignets with sea urchin mayonnaise or horse steak tartare or the veal Saltimbocca with polenta and anchovy sauce, on the menu, then by all means do order them asap. They are scrumptious.
